The 2017 MLB regular season is in the books, so we now know the order for the 2018 MLB Draft.
After suffering a 5-1 loss to the Minnesota Twins at Target Field on Sunday evening, the Detroit Tigers fell to 64-98 to tie the San Francisco Giants for the worst record in Major League Baseball. The tie-breaker then came down to the fewest wins in 2016 which was Detroit.
As a result, the Tigers receive the No. 1 overall pick.
It marks just the second time in franchise history that the the Tigers will make the first pick. The last time Detroit earned the first selection (1997), the team selected right-hander Matt Anderson.
Rounding out the top five in next year’s draft will be the Giants, Philadelphia Phillies, Chicago White Sox and Cincinnati Reds.
