Week 6 of the college football season is in the books, so ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit has rolled out his latest College Football Playoff projections, picking the top four teams in the nation.
Alabama and Clemson continue their dominance and appear poised to once again appear in the College Football Playoff. There is also a Big Ten team once again represented, with the Penn State Nittany Lions holding that honor at No. 4.
Many believe Penn State was snubbed from the top four a year ago, before they were ultimately edged in the Rose Bowl by USC. This season, the Nittany Lions will be looking to get one of those top spots to prove they belong in the conversation as one of college football’s elite program.
Completing Herbstreit’s final four was another SEC program, the Georgia Bulldogs.
Sitting just outside of the top four spots are the standout team from the Pac-12 and the Big 12’s best squad.
