When Ronda Rousey stepped away from mixed martial arts, everyone knew she was going to foray into the world of entertainment. But most figured it was going to be as a performer.
On Wednesday, she’ll make her debut as the producer of Why We Fight, a show set to premier on Verizon’s new go90 streaming service.
The eight episode series is executive produced by the former women’s bantamweight champion.
The show will follow Zac Wohlman as he travels the world, attempting to answer pressing questions and battle his own demons. Wohlman overcame his own drug abuse and and found inner-strength in the boxing ring.
In his travels, he’ll talk to different fighters and find out the answers to why they do what they do.
Why We Fight will give us a chance to hear some of the stories behind the incredible journeys fighters take to get themselves into the ring.
“‘Why We Fight’ is a powerful, visceral and multi-layered journey that goes beyond the ring and explores the motivations that compel these athletes to compete in their sport,” stated Justin Killion, general manager of premium content for Complex Networks, which is distributing the series through go90. “We’re honored that Zac shared his personal story with us.”
It takes a special kind of person to make a living as a professional fighter, and “Why We Fight” will give an unprecedented look at the mentality and struggles of professional fighters.
