Dawson Eagles kicker Claire Jeffress has all the reasons to celebrate that she can handle.
As if drilling the game-winning field goal through the uprights wasn’t enough to send Jeffress home on cloud-nine, she was also named the school’s homecoming queen.
The only way to make sure homecoming queen reign isn’t a bust to to take care of business yourself.

Jeffress hit a 32-yard field to seal the win for the Dawson Eagles on Friday night. The kick split the post with 1:08 left to play, giving Dawson a 38-35 lead. They would go on to win by that score, and Jeffress says she feels comfortable from 32, or 33 yards out and was able to block everything going on around her out.

The victory lifted Dawson to 5-1 on the season, and gave them their third consecutive victory.
âI just wanted to do what Iâve always done and not think of it as any big deal,â Jeffress told the Pearland Journalâ. âMy team had faith in me, and they were going to block for me, and the snap and the hold were going to be good, so I just had to do my job.â
Jeffress had been named the homecoming queen earlier in the week, and with the game resting squarely, she didn’t get rattled. A similar situation two weeks prior saw her put the go ahead score on the board with a  25-yard PAT, lifting Dawson to a 14-13 victory.
