Conor McGregor caused an ugly scene at Bellator 187 on Friday.
After McGregor’s teammate Charlie Ward scored a first-round victory John Redmond at 3Arena in Dublin, the UFC lightweight champion jumped into the cage to celebrate.
While he was celebrating, referee Marc Goddard asked for McGregor to leave the cage which nearly sparked a brawl.
McGregor charged after Goddard, who previously had a run-in with McGregor at UFC Gdansk when the Irishman was being unruly cageside, and was seen shoving the referee before fleeing the cage.
It was a completely unacceptable moment for a professional mixed martial artist.

If that wasn’t bad enough, McGregor jumped back onto the cage again and slapped a Bellator official who was asking him to leave the cageside area.

We will have to see what punishment, if any, is handed down to McGregor. Regardless of how important he is to the UFC and the promotion’s bottom line, putting your hands on any official is completely indefensible.
Bellator 187 airs tonight on Spike TV beginning at 9:00 p.m. ET via tape delay.
