JuJu Smith-Schuster appears to be everything the Pittsburgh Steelers hoped he would be when they drafted him in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft.
The 6-foot-2 former USC receiver has shown the ability to make tough catches and pull away from defenders in the open field. His talent might have kept him in the public eye, but it was his bicycle that first got him there.
Smith-Schuster made headlines and became a social media sensation after he posted a video of himself walking to practice because his bike was stolen.
It was a strange problem for a professional football player to have, and the public responded with an all points bulletin blitz to recover his bike. Eventually a man who purchased the bike from someone off the street for $200 turned it in, but Smith-Schuster’s eyes had been opened. He needed a car.
But first, he needed his drivers license.
It’s worth noting that I also got a perfect score on my driving exam and had my bike stolen. JuJu Smith-Schuster and I are the same.
The Steelers wide receiver is now free to roam the streets of Pittsburgh behind a steering wheel instead of handle bars. But he says he’s going to keep the bike anyway. Old habits die hard.
