Since Nike took over uniform production for the NBA, it hasn’t exactly been smooth sailing.
There have been questions about the quality of the uniforms, with several instances of the jersey’s ripping or splitting open during the games. And in terms of design, Nike has done little to alter the way the teams look on the court.
That’s all due for a shakeup when Nike unveils their special edition “City” uniform designs for all 30 teams.
Conrad Burry of SportsLogos.Net has been putting together mockups of what he’s been told each team’s “City” uniform design will look like. If he’s on the nose about the Kobe Bryant uniform, it could be the hot ticket item for NBA fans regardless of who they root for.
This mock-up of the rumored #Lakers special jersey by #Nike for #KobeBryant’s jerseys retirement day looks pretty sweet! All black with Black Mamba scales? Put me down to get one! 🐍🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏀 pic.twitter.com/GOcracSCJc

Haha, it's a black mamba jersey. Apparently, the shorts will feature a "24" and an "8" somewhere on them, too, so it's ALL Mamba. https://t.co/0uQfNOQ6tO

The uniform is rumored to be called the “Black Mamba” edition, a nod to the name Bryant earned while playing in the NBA. It would be all black with gold trim, and accented with a snakeskin pattern throughout.
On the shorts would be the numbers 24 and 8, both numbers worn by Bryant during his career.
Bryant is set to have his uniform retired by the Lakers on Dec. 18, and that seems like the most logical time to unveil the new design.
