LiAngelo Ball has become the sacrificial lamb of the Big Baller Brand. It took LaVar Ball a few days of eerie silence in the wake of his son LiAngelo Ball being arrested for stealing in China, but Daddy Ball has figured out a way to spin it. He’s effectively taken the spotlight off of his son, and redirected the attention towards himself. His refusal to thank President Donald Trump for helping his son made national headlines.
Then, his refusal to apologize pushed the narrative even further.
TMZ caught up with Dallas Mavericks owner and entrepreneur Mark Cuban and asked him about the ongoing feud.
At first, Cuban joked that the entire feud was just a ploy for Trump to get some free BBB merchandise. But after being pressed for more info, he gave a more thoughtful response.
In essence, both are loud-mouthed and refuse to acknowledge anything, ever.
“On the real, they’re so much alike. Donald will say what he needs to stay in PR, in the mindset and be talked about — so does LaVar. Donald doesn’t apologize for anything — neither does LaVar. LaVar knows if he apologizes, there’s nothing else to talk about. LaVar doesn’t apologize, he’ll end up in the news all day every day, and the president will end up having to talk about him. What’s better for Big Baller brand? It’s straight out of the Donald Trump playbook. Congratulations, LaVar.”
Congratulations to LaVar Ball are indeed in order. After appearing on CNN, few even remember what started this whole fiasco.
Instead, they’re talking about LaVar Ball, how “crazy” he is, and helping to further the Big Baller Brand image. LiAngelo Ball is probably the least talented basketball player of the Ball boys trio, and if this is his greatest contribution to the BBB, it might be worth more than anything he’d do on the floor.
