UAB Football: Blazers To Face Ohio In Bahamas Bowl In First Year Back

The UAB football program is heading to Nassau’s Thomas A. Robinson National Stadium to take on Ohio in the 2017 Bahamas Bowl.
It is a well-deserved honor for the Blazers, who returned to the field this season following a two-year hiatus.
The news was announced on Sunday evening. UAB and Ohio received the news early to give both universities additional time to sort out the logistics for the international travel.
The amount of work our coaches and players have put in over the last two years has been incredible, and we are thrilled to play in the Bahamas Bowl,” said UAB head coach Bill Clark in a statement. “Ohio is a very solid team led by an outstanding coach in Frank Solich, and it is going to be a great game. Our players will be ready for the challenge and look to become the first team to win a bowl game at UAB.”
This season, UAB finished 8-4.
Ohio also finished its 2017 campaign with an 8-4 mark.
“We are excited to accept an invitation for the 2017 Bahamas Bowl. It’s a location that our players, staff and fans are excited about,” said Bobcats head coach Frank Solich. “We are looking forward to a great game against a talented UAB team.”
The Bahamas Bowl will take place on Friday, Dec. 22 at 12:30 p.m. ET on ESPN.
