Washington State football coach Mike Leach and his Cougars were dominated by rival Washington in the Apple Cup on Saturday night, 41-14.
After the game, he faced the media and wasted no time addressing the swirling rumors regarding the Vols coaching job.
There were reports on Friday that Leach could be in the mix to replace Butch Jones in Knoxville, but the Cougars leading man shut those rumors down and said his focus was solely on Washington State.
“I can’t speak to rumors I don’t know anything about, really,” Leach said following the Apple Cup, via the Spokesman Review. “The biggest thing is I’m focused on Washington State, excited about that and we’re going to a great bowl and I for one couldn’t be happier.”
The Cougars entered this weekend ranked No. 14 in the nation.
They will enter bowl season with a 9-3 record.
