The search for a new Vols football coach has been nothing short of a debacle, which has led to another vacancy at the university.
On Friday morning, it was reported that the University of Tennessee has fired athletic director John Currie after just eight months on the job. Currie was facing plenty of scrutiny for the way he has handled the coaching search and potential candidates.
Chynna Greeneof WVLT in Knoxville, Tennessee was first to report the news.
After firing head coach Butch Jones, Currie was closing in on hiring Ohio State defensive coordinator Greg Schiano. That move was met with incredible backlash from the Vols faithful and it was a downward spiral from there.
Now, it’s back to square one for Tennessee.
The Vols are still in need of a coach, and now must find a new athletic director.
