Could Floyd Mayweather Jr. be coming to the Octagon?
A few months ago, it would have been ridiculous to believe that the undefeated boxer would consider putting his pride on the line to enter the cage for an official UFC bout.
However, if you believe UFC president Dana White, it is a real possibility.
“We’re talking to Floyd about doing a UFC deal,” White said, via ESPN.com. “It’s real. He was talking about [boxing] Conor McGregor. Was that real? Have you heard Floyd talk about many things that aren’t real? He usually tips his hand when he’s in the media, and then that s— ends up happening.
“We’re interested in doing something with Floyd. Everything is a realistic possibility. Mayweather vs. McGregor f—ing happened. Anything is possible.”
The comments from White come not long after Mayweather himself said he was offered a “four or five-fight deal” from the UFC that he claimed could earn him $1 billion.
While that type of money is highly unlikely, it looks like there actually are some discussions going on.
If Mayweather comes to the Octagon, who should he face? Would a grudge match with Conor McGregor make sense? How about a bout with another inexperienced superstar like CM Punk? The options are certainly intriguing, so what would you like to see?
