The Virginia football program will be honoring legendary former coach Bill Welsh, who also coached at Navy, with a special helmet decal in the Military Bowl on Thursday afternoon against the Midshipmen.
Virginia’s equipment manager Matthew Althoff shared a photo of the decal the Cavaliers will wear.
It features the logo of both programs, along with “189 wins.”
Welsh, who won two ACC championships, four ACC Coach of the Year Awards and Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year with Virginia during his lengthy run with the team, finished his career with an overall head coaching record of 189-132-4.
