Michael Porter Jr. may never take the court again for the Mizzou basketball program.
After undergoing back surgery in November, there was some believe that the promising freshman could return this season, but now he is saying it’s too early to say if he will be back.
“Right now, it’s too early to tell,” Porter said, via the St. Louis Post-Dispatch’s Dave Matter. “This is the type of injury where I’ll feel good before I’m allowed to play because a lot of healing starts to occur.”
If he doesn’t return, Porter’s college career lasted just two minutes before suffering the injury against Iowa State.
Porter had two points before he was forced to leave the game.
Entering the season, many projected Porter would be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft. While he is still expected to turn pro after this season, he is likely no longer the top pick. However, he is still projected as a top five lottery pick.
