The Tennessee Titans new coaching staff is shaping up.
On Tuesday morning, the Titans issued a press release officially announcing the team’s offensive and defensive coordinators.
Taking over the Titans offense will be 38-year-old Matt LaFleur, who spent last season as offensive coordinator with the Los Angeles Rams. In Tennessee, LaFleur will officially have play-calling duties.
Leading the defense will be veteran assistant Dean Pees, who has more than a decade of NFL experience including serving as defensive coordinator of the New England Patriots and Baltimore Ravens, often finishing with top ten defenses.
“I am excited to add both of these guys to our staff,” Vrabel said in a statement. “Dean brings a great deal of experience and knowledge to our staff. I have seen first-hand how he teaches and develops from our time together and I wanted to bring that same experience to our players here.”
“Matt brings an energy and an offensive diversity to our team. He is going to develop an offense that puts our players in position to have success. Matt has worked with some great offensive minds, helped game plan on those staffs and I am looking forward to seeing him take that next step as a play-caller.”
Last season, the Ravens once again had one of the best defenses in the league under Pees, who is one of just eight defensive coordinators in NFL history to win a Super Bowl with two different teams.
With the strong coordinators in place, Mike Vrabel has shown that he is ready for his head coaching debut with some of the best minds in the game around him.
