Baker Mayfield Somehow Got Taller Since The Senior Bowl

Heisman Trophy winner Baker Mayfield will be participating in the 2018 NFL Scouting Combine at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis this weekend.
It is the former Oklahoma quarterback’s second major event of NFL Draft season, after previously participating in the Senior Bowl.
Luckily for Mayfield, he’s already getting off to a good start as measurements take place for quarterbacks on Thursday.
When recording his height and weight, Mayfield checked in at 6-foot 5/8. Mayfield weighed 215 pounds and his hands measured at 9 1/4-inches.
The reason Mayfield’s height generated some attention is that he somehow managed to grow a quarter-inch since his time in Mobile. Interestingly, his hands shrunk a quarter-inch.

From Chase Goodbread of NFL.com:

Mayfield measured 6-foot 3/8 at the Senior Bowl. That measurement was taken privately upon Mayfield’s late arrival, a day after Senior Bowl players participated in the group weigh-in event in front of hundreds of scouts, coaches and media. Because NFL clubs typically prefer quarterbacks taller than Mayfield, his measurements have been a crucial element to his draft evaluation.

Will the minor changes ultimately impact Mayfield’s draft stock? It’s highly unlikely but still interesting to note. Who knows, by the time his Pro Day rolls around at Oklahoma, he could check in at 6-foot-1.
Here are measurements from other top signal-callers in the 2018 NFL Draft class:
Josh Allen
Height: 6-foot-4 7/8
Weight: 237 pounds
Hand Size: 10 1/8 inches
Josh Rosen
Height: 6-foot-4
Weight: 226 pounds
Hand Size: 9 7/8 inches
Sam Darnold
Height: 6-foot-3 3/8
Weight: 221 pounds
Hand Size: 9 3/8 inches
Lamar Jackson
Height: 6-foot-2 1/4
Weight: 216 pounds
Hand Size: 9 1/2 inches
Quarterbacks, along with wide receivers and tight ends, will take the field on Saturday, March 3 for their portion of the on-field workouts.
