Former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Miesha Tate is expecting her first child with fellow mixed martial artist Johnny Nunez.
The couple is expecting a baby girl.
“I’m proud to announce we are expecting a beautiful baby girl. Now you can sit and speculate or you can just be happy for us,” Tate wrote on Instagram at the time of the announcement. “I’d like to ask that everyone respect the fact that (like we have been) we would like to continue to live our private lives primarily out of the media.
“I won’t comment on specifics so just know that I am very happy, very excited and my life has never felt so complete.”
While Tate is expecting a child, she isn’t letting that take away from her gym time.
In fact, the former 135-pound title holder recently appeared on a video online that shows she is still getting sparring rounds in at the gym.

Tate’s most recent outing was on Nov. 12, 2016 at UFC 205 against Raquel Pennington where she suffered a unanimous decision loss. That summer, Tate lost the women’s bantamweight title to current champion Amanda Nunes via rear-naked choke at UFC 200.
Is this a sign that Tate could resume her career after giving birth to her first child? She seems pretty content serving as an analyst on FOX Sports, so that remains to be seen, but for now it is clear she has no intention of getting out of the gym anytime soon.
