Soccer star Neymar joined the rest of the world in mourning science icon Stephen Hawking, who passed away on Wednesday morning. The Brazilian, who is currently recovering from injury, took to social media to share a quote from the world-renowned physicist along with a photo of himself.
And because it’s Neymar, he wasn’t wearing a shirt.
“One has to have a positive attitude and must make the best of the situation that one finds oneself in,” the quote read. The rest of Hawking’s quote is, “If one is physically disabled, one cannot afford to be psychologically disabled as well.”
It was an effort to show that the soccer star is in a positive mindset as he recovers from his injury, but some people appear to think the photo comes off as mocking Hawking, who lived with motor neurone disease which left him in a wheelchair and only able to speak through a voice synthesizer.

It was a good-hearted tribute, but Neymar probably could have been a little smarter with the photo.
