The 2018 NCAA Tournament is down to the Final Four, but that hasn’t stopped some analysts from looking ahead to next season. Enter stat guru Ken Pomeroy, who released an early look ahead to next season with his preseason KenPom rankings.
According to Pomeroy, Kansas, Duke, and Villanova will be the top three teams entering 2018-19.
Rounding out the top five is Auburn and Kentucky.
One surprise in the top ten is the Nevada Wolf Pack, who made the tournament this year as a as a No. 7 seed before falling to Cinderella Loyola-Chicago in the Elite Eight.
The rankings for next season come with the assumption that every NBA Draft prospect ranked in the top 40 of Draft Express’ rankings leaves college for the NBA.
An early look at the 2018-19 KenPom rankings can be seen below:
Here’s my computer’s top 10 for 2019 assuming everyone in @DraftExpress top 40 leaves: 1) Kansas, 2) Duke, 3) Villanova, 4) Auburn, 5) Kentucky, 6) North Carolina, 7) Nevada, 8) West Virginia, 9) Gonzaga, 10) Virginia, 11) Maryland.
