Derrius Guice has yet to be selected in the 2018 NFL Draft, but he has already switched agents. According to a Monday morning report from Forbes.com, the former LSU running back has switched from Top Dawg Entertainment to Young Money APAA Sports.
Top Dawg Entertainment represents some star music talents like Kendrick Lamar and SZA.
“They were the first guys who came to me, just like LSU was the first school to offer me a scholarship,” Guice said at the time he signed with Top Dawg Entertainment, via ESPN. “I didn’t forget that.”
But now, he’s making the switch to another agency that has ties to the music world while also having ties to Louisiana, where he was born and raised.
Guice will now be represented by Young Money APAA Sports, which is associated with hip-hop star and New Orleans product Lil Wayne. It could create a fun little rivalry between sports agencies involved with rap stars, after fellow top running back Saquon Barkley signed with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation Sports earlier in the offseason.
Along with Guice, Young Money APAA Sports will represent 2018 NFL Draft prospect Malik Jefferson, a standout linebacker from Texas.
It’s a nice beginning for the upstart group that will be looking to make waves in the sports world.
