As the 2018 NFL Draft rumors continue to swirl, the speculation and intrigue surrounding the top quarterbacks in this year’s class continue to build. Whether it be USC’s Sam Darnold, Wyoming’s Josh Allen, Josh Rosen of UCLA or Heisman Trophy-winner Baker Mayfield of Oklahoma, everyone has differing views on where the signal-callers will land.
But if one team near the top of the draft gets their way, Mayfield could be their man.
According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the New York Jets have “a lot of love” building for the former Sooners star after hosting the quarterback on a pre-draft visit.
New York sits at No. 3 so they are guaranteed one of the draft’s top signal-callers, but Rapoport really seems to believe they could be eyeing Mayfield and hoping the Cleveland Browns and New York Giants turn their attention to Allen and Darnold.

Mayfield brings the ability to make quick reads and fire off the ball with accuracy. While he may not have the prototypical size like a Josh Allen or Sam Darnold, there is no denying his ability to make plays when the ball is in his hands.
Sure, Heisman Trophy winners don’t always fare well in the NFL, especially at the quarterback position, but there is always someone who comes along that breaks the norm.
