The weekend is finally here, and it’s going to be a busy one with plenty of holidays and major sporting events set to take place on Saturday, May 12 and Sunday, May 13. From the NBA and NHL Playoffs to a combat sports overload to paying special attention to our mothers, there is a little bit of everything for people to enjoy before heading back to work on Monday.

What can you look forward to this weekend? Let’s take a look.

What To Watch

The NBA and NHL Playoffs will resume through the weekend, with the NBA kicking off the conference final and the NHL following suit. The NHL Playoffs pick up on Friday night, while the NBA is dormat until Sunday in primetime. Along with postseason play, there are plenty of events that will be airing on Saturday and Sunday.

Here is what to keep an eye out for:

Saturday, May 5

UFC 224: UFC 224 takes place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, with the main card — headlined by a women’s bantamweight championship fight between Amanda Nunes and Raquel Pennington — airing on pay-per-view. The preliminary bouts will air exclusively on UFC Fight Pass and FX.

Vasyl Lomachenko vs. Jorge Linares: Vasyl Lomachenko will be vying for the world championship in his third weight division when he takes on WBA lightweiht champion Jorge Linares. The two-time Olympic gold medalist is currently unbeaten through his 12-fight professional career and will be looking to take down Linares, who is defending his title for the seventh time.

Bellator 199: Bellator 199 takes place at the SAP Center in San Jose, California, with the event airing live on the Paramount Network. In the main event, light heavyweight champion Ryan Bader faces off against Mohammed “King Mo” Lawal in a non-title fight that is part of the promotion’s Heavyweight Grand Prix.

Events

Saturday, May 5

National Miniature Golf Day: Is this a major or important event? No, but is miniature golf awesome? Absolutely. So if you need something to get you through your day on Saturday since there is no NBA action on TV, head on out to a miniature golf course near you.

Sunday, May 6

Mother’s Day: Mother’s Day 2018 is this Sunday, observed in more than 40 countries and honoring our mothers and their influence on our lives and society.
