Still a few months away from the first tip-off, it is never too early to take a look at the current coaching state of the college basketball landscape. Between new coaches being signed, and NCAA violations being handed out left and right, let’s take a look at the highest paid NCAA Basketball coaches as we head towards the 2018 season.
10: Archie Miller ($3.35 Million)

Age: 39
College: Indiana
Contract: In 2017 Miller left Daytona to become the head coach of the Hoosiers, signing a 7-year $3,350,000 per year contract with Indiana.
Head Coaching Record: In six seasons at Dayton, Miller compiled a record of 139-63, and after his first season at the helm in Indiana, he went 16-15 giving him a lifetime record of 155-78.

Age: 65
College: Michigan
Contract: After signing a three-year $3.37 million per year contract in 2015, Beilein has re-upped his contract negotiations and it is reported that he and Michigan have agreed to an extension that will keep him under contract through the 2022-23 season and could see his salary increase to just under $4 million.
Head Coaching Record: The head coach of five different programs before finding a home in Michigan, Beilein has amassed a head coaching record of 724-418.
8: Larry Krystkowiack ($3.4 Million)

Age: 53
College: Utah
Contract: After signing an initial contract in 2015 that would pay him $2.4 million per year through 2023, in 2016 Utah provided some extra incentive, altering the contract and increasing Krystkowiack’s salary up to $3.4 million per year.
Head Coaching Record: After two successful seasons with Montana, Krystkowiack didn’t coach college again until 2011 when he took over as the head coach of Utah. After going 42-20 in two seasons at Montana, Krystkowiack has put together a 137-97 record at Utah and an overall coaching record of 179-117.
7: Bob Huggins ($3.8 Million)

Age: 64
College: West Virginia
Contract: In 2017, Huggins signed a four-year contract extension with West Virginia, an extension that will pay him an annual salary of $3.8 million.
Head Coaching Record: Coaching since 1980, Huggins has compiled an impressive 845-341 overall record.
6: Sean Miller ($4 Million)

College: Arizona
Contract: Currently under contract through 2020, NCAA violations aside, Miller’s current contract offers him just over $4 million per year.
Head Coaching Record: After leading Xavier from 04-09, and taking over for Arizona in 09-10, Miller has put together a winning record of 367-120.
5: Tom Izzo ($4.4 Million)

College: Michigan State
Contract: One of the longest-tenured coaches in College Basketball won’t be going anywhere anytime soon as in 2017, his $4.4 million per year contract got extended through the 2024 season.
Head Coaching Record: After 20+ seasons at the helm of Michigan State, Izzo carries a lifetime record of 574-225.
4: Bill Self ($5 Million)

College: Kansas
Contract: Self is on the back end of a contract that expires after the 2021-22 season, and one that pays him $5 million per year. Self has stated that he is “happy with whatever” when his contract expires, but can’t really picture himself somewhere besides Kansas.
Head Coaching Record: From the Independent scene, to the WAC, to the Big 10, to the Big 12, Self has coached his teams to a combined 654-201 record.
3: Chris Holtmann ($7.1 Million)

Age: 46
College: Ohio State
Contract: Taking over for the Buckeye in 2017, Holtmann’s 8-year deal is set to pay him close to $2.7 million per year, but after bonuses and the money included from his buyout from Butler, his annual salary is just north of $7 million.
Head Coaching Record: After being bought out from Butler, and a successful first seaon at Ohio State, Holtmann has a total head coaching record of 139-94.
2: John Calipari ($8 Million)

Age: 59
College: Kentucky
Contract: After adding an extension of two years to his contract in 2017, Coach Cal is set to make $8 million per year through 2024.
Head Coaching Record: After stints at UMass, Memphis, and now Kentucky, Calipari has put together an impressive coaching record of 678-202.
1: Mike Krzyzewski ($9 Million)

College: Duke
Contract: Krzyzewski is currently under contract through the 2020-21 season and has an annual salary of about $9 million. Age beginning to play a factor, if healthy Coach K. will undoubtedly receive a contract extension sometime in the next couple of years.
Head Coaching Record: After five seasons as the coach of the Army Cadets, Coach K. has been at the helm for the Blue Devils since the 1980-81 season and has put together quite the resume in that time. Second only to Nick Saban in terms of college coach salaries, Krzyzewski has tallied an incredible 1,100-338 record.
