The Indiana football program has suspended a key member of the offense ahead of the start of the 2018 season. On Friday, Aug. 24, the Hoosiers announced that starting running back Morgan Ellison has been suspended from all football activities indefinitely. The release, however, did not give any specific details on why the running back was suspended.
In addition, redshirt freshman linebacker Mo Burnam has been suspended for the season-opener against Florida International University on Sept. 1.
Last season, the sophomore running back ran for 704 yards and six touchdowns. He was the team’s leading returning rusher. Without him in the lineup, it is expected that redshirt sophomore Cole Gest will temporarily fill in as the team’s starter.
While we still have to wait one week for some of the early season marquee matchups, things officially kickoff on Saturday, Aug. 25 with four games across the nation — Duquesne vs. UMass, Prairie View vs. Rice, Hawaii vs. Colorado State, and Wyoming vs. New Mexico State. The games will air on ESPN, ESPN2, CBS Sports Network, and ELVN.
For Indiana, meanwhile, the season will begin at 7:00 p.m. ET on Saturday, Sept. 1 at FIU Stadium.
