Can Ohio State win the national championship? The Buckeyes got off to a hot start for the 2018 college football season and they don’t have any signs of slowing down. In fact, FOX Sports’ Colin Cowherd seems to be a big believer in what is to come.
Cowherd recently discussed the program and pointed to starting quarterback Dwayne Haskins as a reason that they could win it all.
From The Ringer:
“Russillo: I think you got to put Ohio State there.
Cowherd: So do I. I think I do.
Russillo: Ohio State has to be in that group with Clemson.
Cowherd: By the way, their quarterback—he’s good. I had an NFL guy this morning text me like ‘Hey, this guy can play.’ Urban’s had a lot of these… J.T. Barrett, you kind of love him for a weekend, but then they’re like ‘Yeah, but they’re not going to play at the next level.’ But that kid at Ohio State, that’s the kind of kid that can win a national title at Ohio State. Or two. He’s special.”
Haskins is a Heisman Trophy contender after going 22-of-30 for 313 yards and five touchdowns in the season opener where the Buckeyes scored 77 points.
Next up for the Buckeyes is a meeting with Rutgers on Saturday, Sept. 8.
Kickoff at Ohio Stadium is set for 3:30 p.m. ET on the Big Ten Network.
