A vigil for the late Mac Miller is being held at Pittsburgh’s Blue Slide Park on Tuesday, September 11, at 5 p.m.
Miller, born Malcolm James McCormick on January 19, 1992, died of an apparent overdose on Friday, September 6, in San Fernando Valley, California.
The vigil, which begins at 5 p.m. EST, will take place in the Blue Slide Park section of Frick Park, which is located at the intersection of Beechwood Boulevard and Nicholson Street in Miller’s native Pittsburgh, Pennslyvania.
Blue Slide Park was the name of Miller’s debut studio album and featured a track called “Frick Park Market.”
The Facebook event says that approximately 2,800 people will be in attendance.

According to a comment from Rico Galassi on the Mac Miller Vigil Facebook event page, he will live stream the event either Facebook Live or his YouTube page. He says he plans to go live around 4-4:30 p.m. EST.
If the above stream fails, local Pittsburgh DJ Afterthought will be reportedly live streaming the ceremony from his Instagram account on @djafterthought.
In addition to fan-provided live streams, Nightfall Records — the company hosting the event — confirmed they are also teaming up with a local media station in an effort to provide a live stream of the vigil. A rep for Nightfall Records said to check the official event page for live stream updates.
Mac Miller Vigil Schedule

– Vigil begins at 5 p.m. EST and will include the playing of Miller’s music; the creation of drawings, paintings, and murals.
– Speakers begin at 7:30 p.m. EST to talk about how the rapper touched their lives.
– Candlelight ceremony begins around 9:30 p.m. EST.
The official Facebook event describes the vigil as follows:
“We would like to bring the city together in full force for this legendary icon. Mac deserves to be sent off with an evening of celebrating his life, discussing his struggles, and remembering his stories; most importantly for his iconic work that brought joy into the lives of everybody who listened.
We are welcoming all artists to come and paint, create, draw, live tribute art for this event.”
