Where Is Malik Henry? Last Chance U QB Returns To Independence CC

-

Where is Malik Henry? The former highly-touted Florida State quarterback transfer found a home at the JUCO level with Independence Community College in Kansas last season. The program was featured on season 3 of the Netflix hit show Last Chance U, but it was unclear what the next step for Henry was going to be.

Henry clashed with his coaches throughout the season and showed a lack of maturity that was hampering any development on the field.

Then, when the season ended, Henry had yet to pick up a Division I offer. That led to some speculation as to where Henry would resurface in 2018 and now we have our answer.

Henry is back at Independence Community College and this past weekend — Saturday, Sept. 15 — the signal-caller made his first appearance of the year when he started Game 3 for the Pirates against Garden City CC (h/t: Awful Announcing).

On the first play from scrimmage, Henry found wide receiver Markiese King for a 69-yard score. Unfortunately for the Pirates, they ultimately fell to Garden City, 28-21. Andi Sioteco of Koam FOX 14 Sports shared video of Henry’s touchdown connection with King on social media following the game.

Henry was the fourth quarterback to line up under center for Independence CC this season — which has started off with a disappointing 1-2 stretch — so it is going to be interesting to see how things continue to play out on the field and for the cameras as we prepare for a new season of Last Chance U to hit Netflix next summer.

Next up for the Pirates is a game against Fort Scott Community College at Shulthis Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 22.
