Campus Connect: College Sports, Entertainment & Viral News – 10/15

It is time to start off another week, with Monday, Oct. 15. College life can be busy, so at times it can be tough to keep up with the daily news cycle. That’s why we bring you Campus Connect, where you can catch the latest news in college sports and entertainment to keep on top of the buzz that everyone on campus will be talking about.

What happened last night? What events are coming up today? We have you covered with all of that and more.

College Sports News

The latest AP Top 25 rankings were released on Sunday afternoon. There were a number of upsets throughout the weekend, with a whopping four teams in the top ten suffering defeat — No. 2 Georgia, No. 6 West Virginia, No. 7 Washington, and No. 8 Penn State — and a total of 8 teams inside of the Top 25 falling. Because of that, there are plenty of shakeups in the latest poll.

The FAU football program has brought on another former star of “Last Chance U.” After snagging former East Mississippi Community College quarterbacks coach Clint Trickett, quarterbacks John Franklin III and De’Andre Johnson, and defensive lineman Tim Bonner, the Owls have added former Independence Community College quarterbacks coach Frank Diaz.


COED Girl of the Day

Meet Kirby Self, a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority on campus, is the reigning Miss South Carolina Teen USA. She is also a former first runner-up at Miss Teen USA. At Clemson, she majors in Language and International Trade with a double minor in Business Administration and Non-Profit Leadership.


Entertainment News

Cindy Gordon is the former principal at Harnett Central High School in Angier, North Carolina. Gordon was removed from her position after complaints surfaced that she forced a student, the 18-year-old son of Mike Collins, to remove a Donald Trump jersey at the school’s “America Night” football game.
