It’s Friday, February 1, and Super Bowl Weekend is finally here. College life can be busy, so at times it can be tough to keep up with the daily news cycle. That’s why we bring you Campus Connect, where you can catch the latest news in college sports and entertainment to keep on top of the buzz that everyone on campus will be talking about.

College Sports News

The Missouri football program has reportedly been punished by the NCAA. On Thursday, January 31, it was announced that the Tigers have been punished for academic tutor misconduct. As a result, the football program has been banned from the 2019 postseason.

Former Penn State Nittany Lions star running back Saquon Barkley entered the NFL with high expectations. During his collegiate career, Barkley rushed for 3,843 yards with 43 rushing touchdowns, and added 1,195 receiving yards with 8 touchdown receptions.


COED Girl of the Day

Today, we feature Lora Lyle, a student at Washington State University. Lora is a member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority on campus.


Entertainment News

Super Bowl Sunday, it’s practically a national holiday in the United States at this point. Two teams will play against the other in order to gain the title of Super Bowl Champs. Though any are excited to see who takes the title and will bring home the Lombardi trophy, there is another reason that people are excited about this huge football event. The commercials are one of the highlights of the Super Bowl.

It’s almost Super Bowl weekend, with Maroon 5 set to take center stage as the halftime performers for the big game. It is an incredible platform to get millions of eyes on their performance — not that they lack any name recognition — but what could the band take away from entertaining the crowd? Do the musical acts receive a hefty pay day?
