Top 25 College Football Rankings 2019: Preseason AP Poll

The college football season is around the corner, but the official rankings have finally been released. On Monday, August 19, the Associated Press released its official rankings for the upcoming season.
As you might expect, the defending national champion Clemson Tigers sit atop the poll in the No. 1 spot.
Alabama checks in at No. 2.
The Georgia Bulldogs, Oklahoma Sooners, and Ohio State Buckeyes round out the top 5.
“The Associated Press began its college football poll on Oct. 19, 1936, and it is now the longest-running poll of those that award national titles at the end of the season,” according to the AP Poll website. “The preseason poll was started in 1950. A panel of 61 sports writers and broadcasters from around the country votes on the poll weekly. All of the voters have an extensive background in covering college football. Alabama’s ten AP national titles lead the way, with Notre Dame sitting second with eight. Oklahoma has seven, while Miami and Southern California have five each.”
