The report states that Hopper is still enrolled in classes, so the decision to leave the Tigers was his alone and not academically related. A former four-star recruit from Charlotte, North Carolina, Hopper leaves the team with 71 catches for 797 yards and six touchdowns. Though talented, he was never quite able to set himself apart from the rest like teammates Charone Peake and Mike Williams, the latter of whom missed most of last season with a neck injury.
The good news is that Clemson has always been deep at wide receiver and coach Dabo Swinney has recruited that position phenomenally, so losing Hopper isn’t exactly a devastating loss.
Hopper has not indicated that he would seek a graduate transfer to play football elsewhere, but stay tuned to Campus Sports for any further updates on this story!
