Report: Broncos, Von Miller won’t reach deal before franchise tag deadline

One of the biggest pieces of news surrounding the free agent market right now is whether the Denver Broncos and linebacker Von Miller will reach a deal before Tuesday’s franchise tag deadline. Right now, it doesn’t look like a long-term deal will be reached before then.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Saturday evening that Miller and the Broncos likely won’t reach the deal before the deadline. This means that they would put the tag on the Super Bowl 50 MVP.

This would leave the Broncos in a very sticky situation as it would likely leave two of their most important pieces on the free agent market. Schefter said it would put defensive tackle Malik Jackson and quarterback Brock Osweiler on the market and free to sign with whomever they please.

Jackson might not be a huge blow for the Broncos, but Osweiler certainly would. If he were to sign with another team and Peyton Manning retires, it would nearly force the team to draft a quarterback in April.

I guess this could end up being a situation that everyone will have to keep their eye on very closely.
