As the 2014 season approaches us, day-by-day new award watch lists will be released, honoring those talented enough to make preseason lists. The John Mackey award, named after the Pro Football Hall of Fame tight end who played collegiate ball at Syracuse. This morning the John Mackey Award Watch list was released naming some of the nations top Tight Ends (38). As tight-ends continue to become a bigger part of their team’s offensive success and a bigger threat for opposing offenses, the award will become that much more of an honor.
The award will be presented to the winner on December 10th in Baltimore. This season the John Mackey watch list boasts a large pool of talent highlighted by players such as Florida State’s Nick O’Leary and USC’s Randall Telfer.
