Robbie Lawler vs. Tyron Woodley official for UFC 201 in Atlanta

On Tuesday, the Ultimate Fighting Championship officially announced the headliner for its return to Atlanta for UFC 201 on July 30. Welterweight champion Robbie Lawler will be defending his title against challenger Tyron Woodley in the main event at Phillips Arena.

The main card for UFC 201 airs on pay-per-view, with preliminary bouts on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.

Lawler (27-10) enters the bout riding a five-fight winning streak and looking for his third straight championship defense after successfully defending his title against Rory MacDonald and Carlos Condit.

Woodley (15-3), meanwhile, is coming off of a split-decision win over former TUF standout Kelvin Gastelum. Prior to his win over Gastelum, Woodley scored an impressive knockout victory over Dong Hyun Kim.

The matchup between Lawler and Woodley pits a technical brawler against a former NCAA Division I standout. It will be interesting to see whether the striker or grappler comes out on top.

Additional fight announcement can be expected in the coming weeks.
