Washington add ex-Oklahoma WR K.J. Young

The Washington Huskies are going to give former Oklahoma wide receiver K.J. Young another chance. Head coach Chris Petersen confirmed that the team had added the receiver after he was dismissed by the Sooners in May of 2015 for an unspecified violation of team rules.

“We talked to all the people he’s been with the last four years and watched his body of work and put the puzzle together and talked to him,” Petersen told the Seattle Times. “We feel like he’s in a place where he’s going to come here and be successful. We’re excited to get him going.”

Young seemed to be a big part of the Sooners’ program as he recorded 215 yards and a touchdown during his redshirt freshman season in 2014. After his dismissal, he spent the 2015 season at Riverside Community College in California, where he caught 40 passes for 421 yards and six scores in nine games.

With two years of eligibility and him being immediately able to play in 2016, he should be able to join Dante Pettis and Brayden Lenius to make a big impact for the Huskies. Washington opens the season on Sept. 3 against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights.
