LSU WR Tyron Johnson intends to transfer

The LSU Tigers landed a very talented player in five-star wide receiver Tyron Johnson as part of their 2015 recruiting class. However, his career in Baton Rouge is over after just one season as he has announced his intentions to transfer out.

Johnson, who played nine games during his true freshman season last year, took to Twitter and announced his decision to transfer and continue his career. This is a big blow for LSU, who will likely be losing top receivers Travin Dural and Malachi Dupre after the 2016 season.

During the 2015 season, Johnson recorded 150 yards and two touchdowns. He was expected to play a big role for the Tigers while competing for a top spot in the wide receivers corps.

This departure opens the door for other players like Stephen Sullivan, Jazz Ferguson and 2016 four-star signee Drake Davis to play a role for the team this year. Tyron Johnson will have three years of eligibility left after sitting out the 2016 season.
