The Texas Longhorns square off against the West Virginia Mountaineers this week; currently the Mountaineers hold a 24-13 lead late in the third quarter. But there was a much more serious matter that unfolded prior to today’s kickoff.
One of the players from the Texas Longhorns’ father suffered from cardiac arrest before the kickoff.

The family of the collapsed man from pre-game asked Texas officials not to say anything. Now, UT will confirm it's a player's father.

The player has not been named at the request of the family. According to an Austin-Travis County EMS spokesman, they were unable to find a pulse on the man for 20-30 minutes before the pulse returned. He is currently in critical, but stable condition.
It is not yet known whether the player has been made aware of the goings on. Given that the family made the request themselves, they may be trying to shield the information from their son during the game.
Our thoughts and wishes are with the family and we hope for the best. When things like this happen prior to a football game, it puts things into perspective.
