Soso Jamabo, one of the top high school running backs, has chosen the UCLA Bruins over the Texas Longhorns. The five-star recruit’s highly anticipated selection came with few surprises as sources close to Jamabo released his decision late last night.
Jamabo, as you may remember, was the player that jokingly said he was picking between ITT Tech and the University of Phoenix, but really only ever had Texas and UCLA on his mind.
A native of Plano, Texas, Jamabo received interest from almost every top school nation wide. However, he spurned his hometown Longhorns and decided the Bruins were the best fit for his elite combination of size and speed. During his senior season, Jamabo rushed for an electrifying 2,279 yards on just 294 carries, earning a spot on USA Today’s First Team All-America and an invitation to the Under Armour All-American game.
Despite his endless talent, head coach Jim Mora will need to work on Jamabo’s ability to pass catch and block out of the backfield. Both skills typically allow for good running back to become great.
