Donovan recently accepted an offer to become head coach of the NBA’s Oklahoma City Thunder after 19 seasons in Gainesville, so it’s clear that he will no longer have the time for the duties associated with the U19 team.
Instead, longtime U19 assistant Miller will take over and bring on Providence coach Ed Cooley as an assistant.
In coaching stints with Xavier and Arizona, Miller holds a career record of 283-99. In six seasons with the Wildcats, he has reached the Elite Eight three times. Having this new position could help him in the recruiting department, as he will be able to establish relationships with some of the top young talent in the nation.
The FIBA U19 World Championship will take place in Greece from June 27-July 5
