Just one week after being picked third overall by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the NFL Draft, pass rusher Dante Fowler Jr.’s rookie season could be in jeopardy. While at the Jaguars’ rookie minicamp, Fowler appeared to injure his knee as he fell to the ground.

ESPN’s Michael DiRocco stated that it looked like Fowler fell awkwardly on his knee, and Ryan O’Halloran of theĀ Florida Times-Union reported Fowler walking carefully with trainers at both of his sides.

One can’t help but assume the worst whenever a player is carted off the field, and it’s especially heartbreaking considering how Fowler was set to be the Leo (linebacker-defensive end hybrid) in Jacksonville coach Gus Bradley’s system fresh off a season at Florida in which he registered 8.5 sacks.
This has all the warning signs of a torn ACL, but nothing is official yet. Campus Sports will update this story as more details on Fowler’s knee become available.
