I’m sure a lot of people here remember when Golden State Warriors guard and NBA MVP Steph Curry took the nation by storm. It was the 2008 NCAA Tournament, and the little known Davidson Wildcats, then of the Southern Conference, made fans’ collective eyes pop out when they reached the Elite Eight as a No. 10 seed, having knocked off No. 7 Gonzaga, No. 2 Georgetown and No. 3 Wisconsin en route to doing so.
The star of that team was Curry, who averaged 25.9 points per game that season while shooting an eye-popping 44 percent from long range. In the tourney that year, he averaged 32 points per contest.
Curry was drafted by the Warriors with the seventh overall pick in the following year’s NBA Draft, and now Davidson has wished their former star luck in an incredible gesture.
The 6’3″, 190 pound MVP and his Warriors teammates are set to kick off the Western Conference Finals against the Houston Rockets tonight at 9 p.m. ET, and the Twitter page for Davidson’s basketball team wished Curry well with a beautiful tribute video.

Needless to say, the fact that Curry knows his alma mater is cheering him on should give him an extra bounce in his already excellent step. He averaged 23.8 points, 7.7 assists and two steals per game while shooting 49 percent from the field and 44.3 percent from downtown in his MVP season, and owns career marks of 20.9 points and 6.9 assists per contest with a career shooting percentage of 47 percent while making 44 percent of his threes.
Long story short, Davidson did a great job of paying tribute to its best player in school history, and Curry should watch this before every game to pump himself up!
