Michigan lands 2016 safety Devin Gil, a former Miami commit

It’s time to hop aboard the Michigan Wolverines recruiting train. Next stop, back to Big 10 Glory.

Earlier Friday morning, Devin Gil, a three-star safety in the 2016 class , announced that he has committed to Michigan. Gil, who is a Hollywood, Florida native, was committed to University of Miami before changing his mind to decide to play for the Wolverines.

Coach Harbaugh and his staff are getting very agressive on the recruiting trail. With Gil’s commitment, the Wolverines now have a total of 17 commitments and are ranked the No. 8 class in the country by 247 sports.

When is the last time Michigan was ranked No. 8 in anything?

You can see why Gil made the decision. He could have gone to play for Al Golden, who is a decent head coach, or go play for Jim Harbaugh, the man who lead the San Francisio 49ers to a Super Bowl appearance and has been lauded for his ability to get the most out of his players.

Big Blue Nation has to pleased with Coach Harbaugh’s efforts. He is not afraid to go into any state and recruit the best players.

It might not happen this year or the even the next, but Michigan will again be a powerhouse in college football.
