It is time for your daily dose of Urban Meyer and Ohio State football. Earlier this week, Meyer gave recruits a rather uplifting speech during a satellite camp at Florida Atlantic University.
The highlight of the speech is when Urban Meyer told the high schoolers they better not be a “pain in the a**” if they want to succeed in college football. You have to love the honesty.
Josh Newberg of 247 Sports’ was able to get the entire conversation on video.
Meyer seems well past his days of high anxiety and stress. He now carries himself with a sense of confidence and brash that we haven’t seen before. His players seem to love it too.
This is exactly what every high school athlete needs before they go off to college. The agressive reminder not to screw up and let this opportunity slip through your fingers.
Do you want to be remembered as the kid who worked hard in the classroom and on teh field?. Or the kid who could of been the next great somebody, but decided to become a nuisance and is an afterthought when his name is brought up.
You don’t have to like Urban, but after a speech like this, your respect for him definitely grows.
