Following a report from Yahoo Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski that stated he was in communication with the Sacramento Kings about assuming both front office and head coaching duties, Kentucky Wildcats head men’s basketball coach John Calipari took to Twitter to address the rumors himself.
Not surprisingly, he spoke nothing but Kentucky’s praises and how he had no plans to leave.
For the 100th time, I have the best basketball coaching position in the world. I am not looking for any other coaching position.

Since he bought the team, @Vivek and I have talked on and off about @boogiecousins.

.@Vivek has asked me what I thought about @boogiecousins and I told him he would be an all-star, and I was right.

In the last two weeks, we’ve also talked a bunch about the draft and on draft day, obviously because of @ThewillieCS15.

At no time has @Vivek offered me a job. I WILL BE AT KENTUCKY.

Well, that appears to be that. Though Kings owner Vivek Ranadive is currently butting heads with head coach George Karl, who has hired in the middle of last season, it doesn’t appear that Calipari will be leaving a perennial championship contender in Lexington for an NBA rebuilding squad in Sacramento. It’s certainly hard to blame him, as the Wildcats have gone 190-38 (82-20 SEC), winning a championship in 2012. Last season, the team was fully undefeated before falling to Wisconsin in the Final Four.
Sacramento, on the other hand, has not been in the playoffs since 2006 and seems to be constantly rebuilding despite a solid young core of talent.
Thus, it looks as though Calipari will continue to build strong teams in Kentucky while Sacramento continues to look for a solution to getting out of the cellar.
