UFC 189: Sinead O’Connor to sing Conor McGregor to cage?

UFC featherweight contender Conor McGregor is always finding a way to generate a must-see feel surrounding all of his fights. His upcoming match against Chad Mendes at UFC 189 for the interim title is no different.

In his most recent UFC appearances, McGregor has made his way to the Octagon to a mashup of songs from Ireland’s Sinead O’Connor and, appropriately, Notorious B.I.G — “The Foggy Dew” and “Hypnotize.”

For his interim title fight, McGregor will once again make the walk to “The Foggy Dew,” but there will be a twist it seems.

Sinead O’Connor will apparently be in Las Vegas to serenade the crowd and sing McGregor’s walkout music live as he enters the cage. O’Connor reported the news on her Facebook page.

That is going to take the atmosphere for the fight to an entirely new level.

We have seen boxers walkout to live performances in the past — like Floyd Mayweather with Lil Wayne — but this will be a new experience for many of the mixed martial arts fans in attendance.

It’s going to be fun if the performance indeed does go down.

UFC 189 takes place on Saturday, July 11 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. A welterweight title fight between champion Robbie Lawler and Rory MacDonald will serve as the co-main event.
