Division III’s Duncan Robinson Transfers To Michigan

Division III basketball players simply don’t receive the notoriety that most players in Division I programs earn.  Most division III athletes hope to excel on a smaller scale with less commitment and a chance to have an immediate impact on their schools.  For Duncan Robinson, his college experience was ground breaking.

While playing for Williams College, the 6’8″ forward was simply outstanding in his rookie year scoring over 500 points.  Now, it will be his chance to shine in the full spotlight, as he will spend the rest of his collegiate career in a drastically different environment – the University of Michigan.

Robinson started 31 games as a freshman at Williams and should be able to stretch opposing defenses.

The link between the two programs is that Williams head coach Mike Maker was a former assistant to current Wolverines head coach John Beilein.

Due to standard NCAA transfer rules, Robinson will not be eligible to play during the 2014-15 season. But with one year at Williams under his belt, the thought of him spending a year just practicing with the Wolverines and familiarizing himself with an offense that has produced a handful of NBA Draft picks in the last few years (Trey Burke, Glenn Robinson III, Tim Hardaway Jr., Mitch McGary) should have Michigan fans drooling.
