Connecticut QB Casey Cochran Ends Career

Unfortunate news surfaced out of Storrs, Connecticut today.

Starting quarterback Casey Cochran (redshirt sophomore) has decided to end his football career after enduring multiple concussions.

Cochran suffered his fourth and ultimate concussion of his career in the Huskies  35-10 loss to BYU on August 29. He missed Connecticut’s game this past Saturday against Stony Brook.

“A silver lining in this matter is that Casey has an interest in pursuing a career in coaching,” stated ead coach Bob Diaco. “We can now accelerate his development in that area as he transitions from a player role to a mentor role as he continues to serve the team.”

He finishes his career with 1,464 passing yards, 11 touchdowns passes, and five interceptions.

Senior quarterback Chandler Whitmer started in the win over Stony Brook and likely will be the starter moving forward.
