Neither Reid nor BC has confirmed the move, but given Reid’s ties to Massachusetts, especially Boston College, it may as well be. He was the Eagles’ defensive coordinator back in 1994 and was also the head coach of UMass from 1986-1991.
Reid would be replacing Don Brown, who had served under coach Steve Addazio the previous three seasons before being hired to succeed D.J. Durkin at Michigan when Durkin left to become the new head coach at Maryland. Given how the Eagles finished first in the nation in total defense and fourth in points allowed per game despite a dismal 3-9 (0-8 ACC) season, Reid should help the team stay the course on defense as Addazio looks to right the ship on the offensive side.
