Oregon quarterback Vernon Adams was the star of the show in this year’s East-West Shrine Bowl, completing 6 of 9 passes for three touchdowns while adding two carries for 25 yards in the West’s 29-9 victory.
In a game where the West absolutely dominated on defense, limiting the East to converting just 1 of 15 third down attempts and forcing three turnovers, Adams showed poise and proved that he could very well have some sort of NFL future even if he is just a backup. His game highlight came early in the second quarter, when he uncorked a throw found Purdue wideout Danny Anthrop for an eye-popping 93 yard touchdown to extend the West’s lead.

Adams’ form is awkward, but this throw proved that he could very well have what it takes to be an NFL quarterback from a mental standpoint. Where others would bow in the face of pressure, he kept his feet shuffling and ultimately found the open man in Anthrop, who finished with five catches for 120 yards.
Just what comes next for both men remains to be seen, but Adams is definitely a name to keep an eye on as Draft Day draws closer.
