Louisville Dismisses Cameron Polk

Louisville head coach Bobby Petrino announced freshman wide receiver Cameron Polk is no longer with the team, after being cited by university police for drug possession and trafficking on Wednesday.

WAVE-3 first reported that Polk was trafficking marijuana, codeine syrup, and hydrocodone pills from his apartment.

“Cameron Polk has been dismissed from the team,” Petrino said in a statement to  The Courier-Journal. “I do feel, however, that it is important that we provide him with the help and support needed to help him with his problems.”

According to Rivals.com, Polk was a three-star prospect out of Fishers, Indiana. He chose the Cardinals over Ball State, Indiana, Miami (OH), Toledo, and Western Michigan among others.

Polk appeared in the Cardinals’ win over Murray State but had yet to produce any statistics for Louisville this season.

Through the midway point of the season, Louisville is off to a good start in their first campaign as a member of the ACC.

In his second stint as the Cardinals head coach, Petrino is looking to bring back the magic he once crafted years ago. He currently holds a 46-10 record as Louisville’s head coach and fans are optimistic that he can lead the Cardinals to new heights.
